Falling by Jane Green Book Review

So I thought that I would try something a little different, tell me what you think.

Introduction:
I could write loads here but all I am going to say is GO AND BUY IT!!! Well I am also going too say, I was not expecting to read this book as it was not something I had heard about it. It was something I just picked up at the airport and I will remember it.

Blurb:

When Emma Montague left the strict confines of upper-crust British life for New York, she felt sure it would make her happy. Away from her parents and expectations, she felt liberated, throwing herself into Manhattan life replete with a high-paying job, a gorgeous apartment, and a string of successful boyfriends. But the cutthroat world of finance and relentless pursuit of more began to take its toll. This wasn't the life she wanted either.

On the move again, Emma settles in the picturesque waterfront town of Westport, Connecticut, a world apart from both England and Manhattan. It is here that she begins to confront what it is she really wants from her life. With no job, and knowing only one person in town, she channels her passion for creating beautiful spaces into remaking the dilapidated cottage she rents from Dominic, a local handyman who lives next door with his six-year-old son.

Unlike any man Emma has ever known, Dominic is confident, grounded, and committed to being present for his son whose mother fled shortly after he was born. They become friends, and slowly much more, as Emma finds herself feeling at home in a way she never has before.

But just as they start to imagine a life together as a family, fate intervenes in the most shocking of ways. For the first time, Emma has to stay and fight for what she loves, for the truth she has discovered about herself, or risk losing it all.

In a novel of changing seasons, shifting lives, and selfless love, a story unfolds -- of one women's far-reaching journey to discover who she is truly meant to be...

'Warm, witty, sharp and insightful' - Sophie Kinsella

My Opinions:

This was completely not what I expected it to be. There were so many twists and turns throughout the story that I remained on the edge of the sun lounger the whole way through the book. It was written so perfectly that you begin to feel like you are Emma yourself and that you are slowly falling in love with Dominic too, both of which are brilliant main characters because of their complexity. I definitely feel that this story is a true love story.

The characters were absolutely brilliant, especially Jesse and Hobbles the kitten. Emma was slightly undeveloped as a character but that should be expected with her being the main character. However, through the plot you get to understand her truly and this is something that I feel made me love the book because I had so much respect for Emma. Dominic on the other hand, I had no issues with falling in love with because of the way that he was described but also his personality. All of which made him very friendly and genuine, you felt like you trusted him and understood Emma's and his relationship. Jesse I feel makes the book because he's where I really connected with the book as you see his relationship with Emma come through leaps and bounds. It is something truly beautiful. Hobbles the kitten, just made me want a kitten the whole way through (you have been warned).

The plot starts off so obvious and you expect that it is going to be like every other love story that you have read (lets be honest, I have read quite a few). However, it is not like that at all which makes it more believable. The book highlights what it is like to be in a relationship which is all I can say without giving more away. I would suggest this to anyone but anyone in particular that wants to brighten their day with so much positivity.
